Salty Coconut Hair Salon
Privacy policy
This is what we collect when you book with us, what we do with it, and how to get it back
or have it deleted. It covers our booking site and both of our apps.

Who we are
Salty Coconut, 732 Anzac Highway, Glenelg SA 5045.
You can reach us on (08) 8295 2581
or at saltycoconutaus@gmail.com.
We are the ones responsible for the information described here.
What this covers
- This booking site, book.saltycoconut.com.au.
- Salty Coconut, our booking app for clients.
- Salty Coconut Staff, the app our own team uses to run the diary. It is for salon staff
only and is not useful without a staff account.
What we collect
Only what it takes to hold an appointment and tell you about it.
- When you book
- Your name, mobile number, and email address. The services you picked, who you are seeing,
the day and time, and anything you typed into the note.
- When you sign in to see your bookings
- A one-time code sent to your email address. There is no password to set or forget.
- Your history with us
- Past and upcoming appointments, and notes our stylists keep about your hair — colour
formulas, what worked last time — so you don't have to explain it again.
- Technical
- A session cookie so the site remembers you between pages, and ordinary server logs
(date, page, IP address) kept by our hosting provider.
What we don't collect
- No card or payment details. Payment happens in the salon. This system never
sees a card number, and we don't take deposits online.
- No location, contacts, photos, or microphone. Neither app asks for them.
The staff app can dial a client's number, which opens your phone's dialler — it does not
read your contacts.
- No advertising, analytics, or tracking. There are no third-party trackers
in the apps or on this site, and we don't sell or share your details for marketing.
What we use it for
- Booking, moving, and cancelling your appointment.
- Sending you a confirmation, a reminder before the day, and a note if something changes.
- Proving it's you when you sign in to look at your bookings.
- Keeping a record of your visits so our stylists can pick up where they left off.
Reminders go out by email and, if you gave us an Australian mobile, by text. You can turn the
text off when you book, or tell us any time and we'll switch it off for good.
Who else sees it
Our own staff, and the services that carry the messages and run the servers. Nobody else.
- Hostinger — hosts the site and the database.
- Our email provider — delivers confirmations and reminders.
- Twilio — delivers text messages.
These providers only get what the message needs: usually your name, the appointment details,
and the address or number it is going to. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
Where it is kept, and for how long
Appointments and client records stay on our servers while you remain a client of the salon, so
your history is there next time you come in. Verification codes expire within minutes of being
sent. Backups are kept for a limited period and then overwritten. Ask us to delete your record
and we will, except where we have to keep something to meet a legal obligation.
Your choices
- See what we hold. Sign in on the My bookings
page, or email us and we'll send you a copy.
- Correct it. Tell us and we'll fix it, or ask at the front desk.
- Delete it. Email saltycoconutaus@gmail.com
from the address you booked with, or call the salon. This removes your client record and
your booking history.
- Stop the texts or emails. Ask us, and the reminders stop while your
appointments stay.
In the apps, signing out clears the session held on your phone. Uninstalling removes it entirely —
it does not delete your record with the salon, so ask us for that separately.
Keeping it safe
The site and the apps talk to our server over HTTPS. Staff accounts are individual, and the staff
app shows a stylist only what they need to run their day. No system is perfect; if something does
go wrong with your information, we will tell you and the Office of the Australian Information
Commissioner where the law requires it.
Children
We cut children's hair, and a parent or guardian is welcome to book on their behalf. We don't ask
children to make their own accounts, and we don't knowingly collect information from a child
directly.
Complaints
If you think we've mishandled your information, tell us first — email
saltycoconutaus@gmail.com and we'll look into it. If you
aren't satisfied with how we deal with it, you can take it to the Office of the Australian
Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Changes
If we change how any of this works, we update this page and the date at the top. The current
version is always here.
